Everyone Has a Story in Life

A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted…
“Dad, look the trees are going behind!”
Dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year Old’s childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed…
“Dad, look the clouds are running with us!”
The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man…
“Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor? “The old man smiled and said…“I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today.

Moral: Every single person on the planet has a story. Don’t judge people before you truly know them! The truth might surprise you.

Learning from Mistakes

Thomas Edison tried two thousand different materials in search of a filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his assistant complained, “All our work is in vain. We have learned nothing.”
Edison replied very confidently, “Oh, we have come a long way and we have learned a lot. We know that there are two thousand elements which we cannot use to make a good light bulb.”

Moral: We can also learn from our mistakes

A LONG TIME AGO THERE WAS A BOY...

A long time ago there was a boy. He was smart, talented and handsome. However, he was very selfish and his temper was so difficult, that nobody wanted to be friends with him. Often he got angry and said various hurtful things to people around him.
The boy‘s parents very concerned about his bad temper. They considered what they could do and one day the father had an idea. He called his son and gave him a hammer and a bag of nails. The father said: „Every time you get angry, take a nail and drive into that old fence as hard as you can.”
The fence was very tough and the hammer was heavy, nevertheless the boy was so furious that during the very first day he has driven 37 nails.
Day after day, week after week, the number of nails was gradually decreasing. After some time, the boy started to understand that holding his temper is easier that driving nails into the fence.
One day the boy didn‘t need hammer and nails anymore as he learned to hold his temper perfectly. So he came to his father and told about his achievement. „Now every time, when you hold your temper all day long, pull out one nail“.

Much time has passed. At last the boy could be proud of himself as all the nails were gone. When he came to his father and told about this, he offered to come and take a careful look at the fence. „You did a good job, my son, but pay your attention to the holes that left from the nails. The fence will never be the same. The same happens when your say hurtful things to people, as your words leave scars in their hearts like those holes in the fence. Remember, we need to treat everyone with love and respect, because it doesn't matter, that you say you are sorry, the scars will not disappear.
Moral: Patience is the key which solves all the problems...

Attitude says what you are…………?

THE STORY OF A BLIND GIRL

There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend. One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she could see everything, including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, “Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”
The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and refused to marry him. Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying:
“Just take care of my eyes dear.”

This is how human brain changes when the status changed. Only few remember what life was before, and who’s always been there even in the most painful situations.
Life Is A Gift
Today before you think of saying an unkind word – think of someone who can’t speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food – think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Before you complain about your husband or wife – think of someone who is crying out to God for a companion.
Today before you complain about life – think of someone who went too early to heaven.
Before you complain about your children – think of someone who desires children but they’re barren.
Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn’t clean or sweep – think of the people who are living in the streets.
Before whining about the distance you drive – think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.
And when you are tired and complain about your job – think of the unemployed, the
disabled and those who wished they had your job.
But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another – remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.
And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down – put a smile on your face and thank God you’re alive and still around.
Life is a gift – Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, and Fulfill it.

How your habits affect you........

A wealthy man requested an old scholar to wean his son away from his bad habits.  The scholar took the youth for a stroll through a garden. Stopping suddenly he asked the boy to pull out a tiny plant growing there.
The youth held the plant between his thumb and forefinger and pulled it out. The old man then asked him to pull out a slightly bigger plant. The youth pulled hard and the plant came out, roots and all. “Now pull out that one,” said the old man pointing to a bush. The boy had to use all his strength to pull it out.
“Now take this one out,” said the old man, indicating a guava tree. The youth grasped the trunk and tried to pull it out. But it would not budge. “It’s impossible,” said the boy, panting with the effort.
“So it is with bad habits,” said the sage. “When they are young it is easy to pull them out but when they take hold they cannot be uprooted.”
The session with the old man changed the boy’s life.
Don’t wait for Bad Habits to grow in you, drop them while you have control over it else they will get control you.

The Race...

Are you thinking that cracking IIT-JEE is a race where only the winners are honored..?? Now, its time for you to read the following story and know what a competition is actually is...

In old times, fable retells the story of the young, athletic boy hungry for success, for whom winning was everything and success was measured by such a result.
One day, the boy was preparing himself for a running competition in his small native village, himself and two other young boys to compete. A large crowd had congregated to witness the sporting spectacle and a wise old man, upon hearing about the little boy, had travelled far to bear witness also.
The race commenced, looking like a level heat at the finishing line, but sure enough the boy dug deep and called on his determination, strength and power .. He took the winning line and was first. The crowd was ecstatic and cheered and waved at the boy. The wise man remained still and calm, expressing no sentiment. The little boy, however  felt proud and important.

A second race was called, and two new young, fit, challengers came forward, to run with the little boy. The race was started and sure enough the little boy came through and finished first once again. The crowd was ecstatic again and cheered and waved at the boy. The wise man remained still and calm, again expressing no sentiment. The little boy, however, felt proud and important.
"Another race, another race!" pleaded the little boy. The wise old man stepped forward and presented the little boy with two new challengers, an elderly frail lady and a blind man. "What is this?", quizzed the little boy. "This is no race" he exclaimed. "Race!", said the wise man. The race was started and the boy was the only finisher, the other two challengers left standing at the starting line. The little boy was ecstatic, he raised his arms in delight. The crowd, however, was silent, showing no sentiment toward the little boy.

"What has happened? Why not do the people join in my success?" he asked the wise old man. "Race again", replied the wise man, "...this time, finish together, all three of you, finish together" continued the wise man. The little boy thought a little, stood in the middle of the blind man and the frail old lady, and then took the two challengers by the hand. The race began and the little boy walked slowly, ever so slowly, to the finishing line and crossed it. The crowd were ecstatic and cheered and waved at the boy. The wise man smiled, gently nodding his head. The little boy felt proud and important.

"Old man, I understand not! Who are the crowd cheering for? Which one of us three?", asked the little boy. The wise old man looked into the little boy's eyes, placing his hands on the boy's shoulders, and replied softly .. "Little boy, for this race you have won much more than in any race you have ever ran before, and for this race the crowd cheer not for any winner...!!

The frogs and the tower

Here is a short story of a small frog which leaves you inspired and productive...

There once was a bunch of tiny frogs...who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants...
The race began...
Honestly, no-one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. You heard statements such as:
"Oh, WAY too difficult!!"
"They will NEVER make it to the top".
"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"
The tiny frogs began collapsing one by one.
Except for those who in a fresh tempo were climbing higher and higher...
The crowd continued to yell "It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!"
More tiny frogs got tired and gave up.
But ONE continued higher and higher and higher,This one wouldn't give up!
At the end, everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!
THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it?

A contestant asked the tiny frog how the one who succeeded had found the strength to reach the goal?

It turned out...

That the winner was deaf....!!
Whatever race it may be, believe in yourself and work hard towards your goal in a persistent way..!! You'd definitely be in the top position.

Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean...??

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling.
It seemed that, as one problem was solved, a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to a boil. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans.
She let them sit and boil, without saying a word. In about twenty minutes, she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me, what do you see?"
"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," the young woman replied. The mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. She then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"
Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity - boiling water - but each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.
The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened! The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.
"Which are you?" the mother asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?" Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong but, with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength? Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat?  Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart? Or am I like the coffee bean which actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain? When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavour.
If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?
No matter what you feel like during your preparation process, at the end of it awaits a sweet result of your hardwork and talent.

Is everyone this way??

Once upon a time, in a place named Hampi, there was a person named Ram, who used to own many elephants. As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds, but for some reason, they did not.

He saw Ram, and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” Ram said, “when they are very young and much smaller, we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds, but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were…!!

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? The main reason to think that you are able to do only a certain thing in life is nothing but just your own thinking that you are confined. It is just a misconception to believe things that you cannot do the impossible.

Failure is a part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life. I hope all of you would follow this and achieve things you have been dreaming of..!!

A Warm Welcome

As it is the last day of 2014, everyone of you must be happy and ready to welcome the new year warmly.  Now, it’s a new era of your life.  Have you ever thought of new thoughts, new resolutions, new promises, new achievements, etc  to have a change in your routine life now?
Here are few things which you can start following from the beginning of this year to see  a great change in your academics and in your personality which boosts up your spirits.

Read the newspaper more frequently to improve your vocabulary and general knowledge

Stop procrastinating :
How often have you underestimated how much time it will take to get something done? Then, how sad are you when you don’t have the time to do your best. If you finish a project earlier than you thought you would, then consider yourself ahead.

Don’t do it all :
It’s better to concentrate on a few things and excel in them than if you join every sport, activity and club that you can cram into your schedule.

 Keep a calendar :
Deadlines creep up quickly. And the closer the date, the more you’ll feel the pressure. Most students don’t do their best under pressure. And colleges, scholarships, federal aid, and standardized testing services are not going to be sympathetic to any excuses you have about missing a deadline. If you miss a deadline, you miss an opportunity.

Take standardized tests early:
You won’t know how high you can score until you take the test. Wait too long and you won’t have enough time to retake it. And many things can affect your test score on any given day, including the state of your health, and you can’t plan not to get the flu or food poisoning. Taking the test early will also allow time to take a test prep course if necessary.

Do your research :
Know what the choices are when it comes to colleges. This way you can avoid any could you, should you, ‘would you’ regrets later in life. Research could be as simple as visiting a school’s website.

Try something new :
High school is a great time to spread your wings. It’s about new experiences and self-discovery. There’s no harm in calling up and asking if you have any doubt. Want to try a new sport or activity, go ahead and try it. This is a chance to start narrowing down your interests. You’ll never know what you like – or how good you are at something – until you try something

Stop doubting yourself.

If you doubt your own God-given talent and your own skills and abilities, you will only hold back the possibility of achieving the things you want to achieve. Start believing in yourself and in your potential to shine. 2015 is going to be a very fruitful year for you – just erase all of your doubts.

Wishing you a very happy and prosperous new year to fulfill all your dreams ahead....

Frog in a milk pail

Hello everyone,
As  we have been listening to the inspirational quotes like "Never Give Up", "Where there is a will, there is a way" from our childhood, yet most of us don't know how these quotes came from our day to day's life experiences.

Here is one such story to inspire us and to keep us motivated.
A frog was hopping around a farmyard, when it decided to investigate the barn. Being somewhat careless, and maybe a little too curious, he ended up falling into a pail half-filled with fresh milk.
As he swam about attempting to reach the top of the pail, he found that the sides of the pail were too high and steep to reach. He tried to stretch his back legs to push off the bottom of the pail but found it too deep.

But this frog was determined not to give up, and he continued to struggle.
He kicked and squirmed, until at last, all his churning about in the milk had turned the milk into a big hunk of butter. The butter was now solid enough for him to climb onto and get out of the pail!
The little frog shows us to "Never Give Up!" on ourselves and on our dreams.  The same way, we all can achieve much more than we think, but it requires a persistent effort from within.

The story of a HARE and a TORTOISE

Guys...we have been listening to the story of a hare and a tortoise from our childhood but ever heard of the complete story of a hare and a tortoise?? Here goes the whole story of it.....

Once upon a time, in a field not too far from you, there was an energetic and happy hare and a sleepy tortoise.
The tortoise liked to sit and munch his dinner slowly, whilst the hare would gobble up his dinner and run round and round the tortoise until he was dizzy.
One day, they had an argument…
“I am the fastest animal in the whole wide world,” said the hare. “I’m faster than a cheeky cheetah, a kicking kangaroo and a racing rabbit,” he boasted.
“Oh, do be quiet,” sighed the tortoise. “You are so full of yourself! If you’re not careful you’ll come to a sticky end…”
“Where’s sticky and then,” asked Noel. “Is it far from here?”
The tortoise rolled his eyes and carried on munching on some tasty lettuce leaves.
“Oh, you two do stop arguing,” said a blackbird as he flew past.
“No, this is serious,” said the hare. “I will prove to you all that I’m the fastest animal in the whole wide world“
The hare laughed his head off.
“Just you wait and see,” said the tortoise. “I’ll get the wise old owl to organize a race for us…”
The wise old owl arranged the race for the next day. All the animals in the field put on their best clothes, groomed their fur, picked up a flag to wave and got ready to cheer the tortoise and the hare on.
“On your marks… Get set… Go!” Called the wise old owl… And the race was off!
Slowly, slowly the tortoise set off and quickly, quickly the hare raced off and soon he was out of sight. In fact, he was so far ahead that, when he looked back, the tortoise was nowhere to be seen
“Gosh,” the hare thought. “I’ve more or less won all ready! I think I’ll just have a little nap under this tree, it’s such a hot day”. The hare was soon fast asleep.
Meanwhile, the tortoise ambled along slowly enjoying the sun on his shell and taking the odd nibble of grass from time to time. On and on and on and on and on and on he plodded. He plodded past the oak tree, he plodded past the bridge, he plodded past the cow shed, he even plodded past  the hare who was still snoring under the tree. He plodded on until he came to the finishing line where the wise old owl and all the other animals in the field were gathered. All the animals clustered around the tortoise cheering and shouting:
“Well done! Well done! You’re the winner!”
All the noise woke the hare up with a start.
“Oh my! Oh my! What’s going on? What’s all that noise? Never mind. I’d better finish the race, then I can go and have my dinner,” he thought.
Noel the hare raced off down the hill towards the finishing line. But when he got there, to his horror, he saw the tortoise with a gold winner’s medal around his neck.
“This can’t be right! He must have cheated,’ cried the hare. “Everyone knows I’m faster than him!”
“The tortoise didn’t cheat,” said the wise old owl. “He has won fair and square. Slowly and surely, never giving up, the tortoise passed the finishing line first. Sorry hare, but you’ve lost this race. Let that be a lesson to you – slow and steady wins the race!
The hare looked very unhappy and sulky. The tortoise felt sorry for him and tried to cheer him up…
“Cheer up, it was only a race,” the tortoise said. “I’m sure you’ll win the next one. And I’d rather we were still friends than win every race under the sun.”
And from that day on they became the best of friends and the hare never boasted again.
The moral of the story is “slow and steady wins the race”
But then, recently someone told a more interesting version of this story. It continues…!!!
The hare was disappointed at losing the race and did some soul-searching. He realized that he’d lost the race only because he had been overconfident, careless and lax. If he had not taken things for granted, there’s no way…!! The tortoise could have beaten him…!!
So, he challenged the tortoise to another race. The tortoise agreed..!!
This time, the hare has gone all out and ran without stopping from start to finish. He won by several miles.
The moral of the story is that… “Fast and consistent will always beat the slow and steady”
If you have two people in an organization,  one slow, methodological and reliable, and the other fast and still reliable at the what he does. The fast and reliable chap will consistently climb the organizational ladder faster than the slow, methodological chap…!!
It’s good to be fast and slow but it’s better to be fast and reliable. But the story doesn’t end here… It continues…!!

The tortoise has done some thinking this time, and realized that there’s no way he can beat the hare in a race the way it was currently formatted.
He thought for a while, and then challenged the hare to another race, but on a slightly different route. The hare agreed…!!
They started it off. In keeping with his self-made commitment to be consistently fast, the hare took off and ran to a top speed until he came to a broad river. The finishing line was a couple of kilometers away from the other side of the river!!!
The hare sat there wondering what to do. In the meantime the tortoise trundled along, got into the river, swam to the opposite bank, continued walking and finished the race…!!
The moral of the story is that… first identify your core competency and then….
Change the playing field to suit your core competency…!!!
But the story still doesn’t end here… It continues…!!

The hare and the tortoise, by this time, had become pretty good friends and they did some thinking together. Both realized that the last race could have been run much better. So they decided to do the last race again…!! But to run as  team this time..!!
They start off, and this time the hare carried the tortoise till the river bank..!!
There, the tortoise took over and swam across with the hare on his back!!
On the opposite bank, the hare again carried the tortoise and they reached the finishing line together,…!!
The moral of the story is that….
It’s good to have an individually brilliant and to have strong competencies… And someone else will do well..!!  But unless you are able to work in a team and harness each other’s core competencies…
You’ll always perform below par because there will always be situations at which you’ll do poorly…
Teamwork is mainly about situational leadership, letting the person with the relevant core competency for a situation.. Take leadership…!!
In life, when faced with failure, sometimes it is appropriate to work harder and  put in more effort. Sometimes it is appropriate to change strategy and try something different !! And sometimes it is appropriate to do both…
The hare and the tortoise also learnt another vital lesson. When we stop competing against a rival and instead…
Start competing against the situation, we perform far better !!
