NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (NEET) 2017 Notification Released

What is NEET?

As per the Indian Medical Council Act-1956 as amended in 2016 and the Dentists Act-1948 as amended in 2016, online applications are invited for NEET-2017 to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Pondicherry.

Requirement of AADHAAR Number:

For Indian citizens and ordinary residents of India, Aadhaar Number is a requirement to fill up the online application of NEET-2017 in all States except J&K, Assam and Meghalaya.

⇒ Candidate name and Date of Birth should be as same as registered in the Aadhaar Card.

Eligibility for 15% All India Quota Seats:
 Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRIs), Oversees Citizen of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) & Foreign Nationals are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.

 Candidates from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J & K:
Students from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J & K are NOT ELIGIBLE for 15% all India quota. If they claim eligibility, they will loose the opportunity to join the course in these states.

 Be careful while choosing 'Eligibility for 15% All India Quota Seats option'. Candidates belong to AP, TS or J&K select 'NO'.

Qualifying Examination:

 The Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study are eligible to apply NEET-2017.

 Candidates whose result is awaited are also eligible to apply NEET-2017

No. of Attempts: The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at NEET shall be limited to 3 (Three) uniformly for all the candidates.

Pattern of Test: The NEET (UG) shall consist of one paper containing 180 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). The duration of paper would be 03 hours from 10.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. "There is negative marking" each negative marking will reduce one mark.
