What is IPU CET?

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU or IP or IPU, previously known as Indraprastha University) is a public, professional university located in Delhi, India. It is the premier university of the country and is known for its high standards in teaching and research, as well as the eminent scholars it attracts to its faculty. Founded in 1998 it is a teaching-cum-affiliating university which affiliates 84 colleges in Delhi-NCR and has 15 schools and centres. The medium of instruction is English to meet the international language standards. The university has been graded 'A' by NAAC.

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, Association of Indian Universities, Medical Council of India and Distance Education Council.

Law of equipartition of energy

According to the law of equipartition of energy, for any dynamic system in thermal equilibrium, the total energy for the system is equally divided among the degrees of freedom.

The kinetic energy of a single molecule along the x- axis, y- axis and z- axis is
Kinetic energy of single molecule is Et = ½ m v2x + ½ m v2y + ½ m v2z

|Et| = 3/2 KBT
Let us take

|½ m v2x |= ½ KBT

|½ m v2y |= ½ KBT

|½ m v2z |= ½ KBT

Motion of a body from one point to another is called translation.

The number of independent ways. By which a molecule can move, without violating any constraint imposed unit, is called number of degrees of freedom.

Molecules of a monatomic gates have only translational degrees of freedom. Diatomic gas has both translational degrees of freedom as well as rotational degrees of freedom around their centre of mass

So, E = Et + Er = ½ m v2x + ½ m v2y + ½ m v2z + ½ I1 ω21 + ½ I1 ω22

Et = translational energy

Er = rotational energy

I1 & I2 are moment of interior ω1 & ω2 are angular velocities.

Some molecules even have vibrational energy [Ev] also.

So, E = ET + ER + EV

EV can written as Ev = ½ m (dy/dt)² + ½ KY²

Where K = constant

            Y = vibrational coordinate [Y]

In equilibrium, the total energy is equally is tribute in all possible energy modes with each mode having an average energy equal to ½ KBT this is known as “law of equipartition of energy”.

CISCE to have its own syllabus, from pre-school to class XII from 2017


Students studying in pre-school till class VIII in schools affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations(CISCE) will have to study a curriculum prescribed by the Board right from academic session 2017-18

Till now, the Board prescribed syllabus only for classes IX to XII. Most schools followed NCERT syllabus for junior classes till VIII. The curriculum prepared  by the Board will be released at the 59th annual conference of Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (ASISC) beginning in Lucknow from November 23.

"Earlier, we were preparing curriculum only for class IX till XII. But now with us having our own syllabus right from pre-school will ultimately help students to prepare for ICSE examinations in a better way. Now, students will be capable of working towards the board examinations much before.

The revised syllabi for ISC (class XII) and ICSE (class X) will be applicable for students taking the exam in 2018. The changes in the ICSE 2018 syllabus are in the subjects of history and civics, geography, mathematics and physics.

Jain University (JET) Notification Released

What is JET?

JET (Jain Entrance Test). Jain University is a Deemed university under the UGC Act, 1956 established in Bangalore, India and promoted by The JGI Group in India and the state of Karnataka. It is a member of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific and is certified ISO 9001:2008 for quality management. It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. It also has Jain International Residential School, Bangalore (JIRS), a premier school at the Jain Global Campus.

Eligibility:

Students must have passed in PCMB / PCMC / PCME in PUC or ISC / CBSE or equivalent board.
Only candidates who have achieved 60% and above PUC/SYJC/12th or equivalent exam are eligible to apply for B.Tech Program

In case of SC/ST, eligibility will be relaxed to the extent of 5%

Candidates who have completed 12th or equivalent exams or final year students of class XII or its equivalent, awaiting examination results may also apply.

Applicants should have completed 12 years of formal schooling in order to apply for the program. Admission will be offered based on scores secured in JET 2016.

Note: Candidates scoring below 60% in 10+2 or equivalent exams may not be eligible for completion of Admission through JET.

Various forms of equation of straight lines

A straight line is a curve such that every point on the line segment joining any two points on it lies on it.

Slope (Gradient) of a line:

The trignometrical tangent of the angle that a line makes with the positive direction of the x - axis in anticlockwise sense is called the slope or gradient of the line.
The slope of a line is generally denoted by m.

m = tanθ

The angle of inclination of a line with the positive direction of x - axis in anticlockwise sense always lies between 00 and1800.

The slope of a line joining (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂) is given by 

m = y₂ - y₁/ x₂ - x₁ = Difference of Ordinates/ Difference of abscissae.

Various forms of equation of straight lines:

Slope intercept form of a line:

The equation of a line with slope m and making an intercept c on y - axis is y = mx + c.

If the line passes through the origin, then 0 = m0 + c => c = 0

Therefore, the equation of a line passing through the origin is y = mx

If the line is parallel to x – axis, then m = 0 therefore the equation of a line parallel to x - axis is y = c.

Reduction of general form to slope intercept form:

The general form of equation of a line is Ax + By + C = 0

⇒ By = - Ax – C

 y = (- A/B) x + (- C/D)

This is of the form y = mx + c, where m = - A/B and C = - C/B.

Point – Slope form of a line:

The equation of a line which passes through the point (x1, y1) and has the slope ‘m’ is (y – y1)= m (x – x1)

Example:

Find the equation of a line passing through (2, -3) and inclined at an angle 1350 with the positive direction of x – axis.

Solution:

Here, m = slope of the line

= tan 1350 = tan (900 + 450)

= - cot 450

= -1

And x1 = 2, y1 = -3.

So, the equation of the line is y – y1 = m (x – x1)

Or, y – (-3) = -1 (x - 2)

Or, y + 3 = - x + 2 or x + y + 1 = 0

Two point form of a line:

The equation of a line passing through two points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) is (y - y₁) [y₂ - y₁/ x₂ - x₁] (x - x₁).

The equation of a line passing through two points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) can also be written in the determinant form 

Intercept form of a line:

The equation of a line which cuts off intercepts a and b respectively from the x and y - axis is x/a + y/b = 1.

Reduction of general equation of a line to intercept form:

The general equation of a line is Ax + B y + C = 0

 Ax + By = - C

 (Ax /-C) + (By/ -C) = 1

 x/ (-C/A) + y/ (-C/B) = 1

This is of the form x/a + y/b = 1

Intercept on x-axis = -C/A

Intercept on y-axis = -C/B

The intercept made by a line on x-axis can also be obtained by putting y = 0 in its equation.

Similarly, y-intercept is the value of y obtained from the line when x is replaced by zero.
