What is LNMIIT?

The LNM Institute of Information Technology (LNMIIT), is a deemed university located in Jaipur, India. LNMIIT offers B.Tech, M.Tech and M.Sc. courses in its campus. For the academic year 2017, LNMIIT invites applications from the candidates on merit based through JEE Mains-2017.

Eligibility Criteria	⇒ The applicant must be appearing for JEE Main 2017 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education ⇒ The applicant must have secured at least 60% aggregate marks in Class 10th ⇒ The applicant must have secured at least 60% aggregate marks in class 12th ⇒ The applicant must have secured aggregate 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class 12th
Selection Procedure	The LNMIIT will draw a merit list only on the basis of the total marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in JEE Main 2017 of only those applicants who apply to LNMIIT for admission and fulfill the eligibility criteria. A minimum cut- off individually for Physics Chemistry Mathematics as well as total marks shall be considered for making the merit list. The admission will be based on this merit list.

Direct Admission to Only for Board Exam toppers B.Tech
Eligibility Criteria	First & Second rank students of all the Central and State boards in India and the top 10 ranked students from the merit list of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) are eligible for direct admission for the year 2017.
Selection procedure	Any such applicants need to submit their applications as per the specified procedure, and need to submit the proof of their rank during counseling and registration.

Imperfections in Solids - I

Defects in Non-Stoichiometric Compounds: The compounds in which the ratio between numbers of anions to number of anions is not equal to ratio indicated by the formula.

• Metal Excess Defect
• Metal Deficiency Defect.

a. Metal Excess Defect: In these compounds there is an excess of cations along with the electrons occurs.   

i. Anion Vacancy:

⇒ This free electron center is called F-centre.

⇒ Due to this only these compounds exhibits colour.

ii. Interstitial cation:

⇒ In this one of the cation will present at the interstitial position and which is stabilized by the electron at interstitial position.

⇒ In this the number of cations are not equal to the number of anions. 

b. Metal Deficiency Effect:

i. Cation Vacancy: One cationic space is empty instead of that a positive cation will present in order to maintain the electrical neutrality.

ii. Interstitial Anion: In this defect the anion occupies interstitial position and one of the cation will be in its +2 oxidation state.

Bennett University 2017 Notification Released

What is Bennett University?

Bennett University is a private university started by the 'Times of India' Group, located in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Bennett University inviting applications from the eligible candidates for admission into the Engineering programmes for the academic year 2017 based on merit in JEE Mains - 2017.

Eligibility:

⇒ Min 5 Subjects in 10+2 or its equivalent examination (equivalence as defined by JEE Board). Candidates with 4 subjects in 10+2 class are not eligible.

⇒ The candidate must obtain minimum of 60% aggregate marks in three subjects to include Physics, and Mathematics (Compulsory) and one subject amongst Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Informatics Practices and Multimedia & Web Technology

⇒ The minimum academic qualification for admission to any one of the programs is as laid down by JEE (Board). The 10+2 or its equivalent Examination must be passed in 2015, 2016 or 2017.

⇒ Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 01,October, 1996 (Date of Birth as recorded in the High School/Secondary Education Board/University Certificate only will be taken as authentic) are only eligible to apply for admission.

Admission Procedure:

The University merit lists shall be announced based on the actual marks obtained by the candidate in Paper - 1 of JEE (Main) 2017.

The counseling may be held on line or at a specified venue, the schedule and details of which shall be announced in due course (Tentatively 23 June 2017).

Clock Puzzle 2 (With Answers)

Puzzle-1: Where should the hour hand point to on the bottom clock?

Answer: Hour hand is pointing to 2.

Explanation: Multiply the hour hand value by 2 and add the minute hand value. This total is always 15.

Puzzle-2: What time should the bottom clock show?

Answer: Five minutes to ten

Explanation: Start with the top left clock face, and move around the others clockwise. The minute hand moves backwards by 15 minutes, then 20, then 25 etc., while the hour hand moves forward 2 hours, then 3, then 4 etc.

Puzzle-3:  Where should the hour hand point to on the bottom clock?

Answer: To the 5

Explanation: Start with the top left clockface, and move around the others in a clockwise direction. The sum of the numbers pointed to by the hour and minute hand follows the sequence 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18.

Resolution of Vectors

We can now resolve a vector A in terms of component vectors that lie along unit vectors î and ĵ. Consider a vector A that lies in x - y plane as shown in figure. We draw lines from the head of A perpendicular to the coordinate axes as in figure and get vectors A₁ and A₂ such that A₁ + A₂ = A since A₁ is parallel to î and A₂ is parallel to ĵ. we have:

A₁ = A_x î, A₂ = A_y ĵ

Where A_x and A_y are real numbers.

Thus, A = A_x î + A_y ĵ

This is represented in figure. The quantities A_x and A_y  are called x - and y - components of the vector A. note that A_x is itself not a vector, but A_x î  is a vector, and so is A_y ĵ. Using simple trigonometry, we can express A_x and A_y in terms of the magnitude of A and the angle θ  it makes with the axis:

A_x = A cos θ

A_y = A sin θ

As is clear from A_y = A sin θ a component of a vector can be positive, negative or zero depending on the value of θ.

Now, we have two ways to specify a vector A in a plane. It can be specified by:

i) Its magnitude A and the direction θ it makes with the x -axis or

ii) Its components A_x and A_y

If A and θ are given, A_x and A_y can be obtained using A_y = A sin θ. If Ax and A_y are given, A and θ can be obtained as follows:

A²_x + A²_y = A² cos² θ + A² sin² θ

The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous public medical colleges of higher education in India.
