Aspiring
IITians' wait for the announcement of dates for the entrance test is over. The
Joint Entrance Exam or JEE (Advanced) 2017 will be held on May 21, 2017,
IIT-Madras has announced.
The
forthcoming entrance test, considered as the toughest exam in the country, will
be conducted by IIT-Madras. The previous exam for JEE (Advanced) was conducted
by IIT-Guwahati.
Remodeling
of IIT JEE entrance exam the entrance exam to the prestigious IITs will see
several changes in the coming session. For 2017, 20,000 more candidates will be
eligible to write the JEE (Advanced) after clearing JEE (Main), thus taking the
total up to 2,20,000.
The Human
Resource Development (HRD) ministry has taken a significant decision to
encourage more students from the SC and ST communities to write the test. The
cut-off for the aggregate marks in Class 12 for SC and ST candidates has been
reduced from 70 per cent to 65 per cent. In the coming year, students from foreign
countries will be allowed to take admission in the IITs after clearing the
test.
